An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Executive to join a growing Payroll Services team based in Teesside.
 
Job description
 
As a Payroll Executive, you will take ownership of a portfolio of payroll clients, managing the complete payroll process from data input through to final submission, while ensuring compliance with current payroll legislation and pension requirements.
 
This role is ideal for a payroll professional with end-to-end payroll experience who enjoys managing their own client portfolio while delivering an accurate, compliant, and first-class payroll service.
 
Working within a collaborative and supportive environment, you will be responsible for the full payroll lifecycle, acting as a trusted point of contact for clients and ensuring payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
 
Main Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of client payrolls, ensuring accurate and timely end-to-end payroll processing.
  • Processing payroll changes, including new starters, leavers, salary amendments, statutory payments, pensions, and auto-enrolment.
  • Calculating PAYE, National Insurance, statutory sick pay, maternity, paternity, and other statutory payments.
  • Maintaining payroll records, payroll software, and employee data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Processing year-end payroll activities and ensuring all statutory deadlines are met.
  • Managing pension administration and auto-enrolment obligations.
  • Responding to payroll queries from clients and providing a professional, high-quality service.
  • Producing payroll reports and journals while ensuring data accuracy throughout the payroll process.
  • Keeping up to date with changes to payroll legislation, PAYE regulations, and industry best practice.
  • Building strong client relationships and working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver an efficient payroll service.

Ideal Candidate:

  • The successful candidate will have at least two years’ end-to-end payroll experience, ideally gained within a payroll bureau or accountancy practice environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE, pensions, and auto-enrolment.
  • Experience managing multiple payrolls simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Excellent numerical skills with the ability to accurately calculate statutory payments.
  • Confidence using payroll software, spreadsheets, and payroll reporting systems.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
