Overview and Opportunity
We’re partnering with a top-10 national accountancy firm to appoint a Private Client Tax Senior into their London advisory team. This is a client-facing role within a high-performing Private Client Tax practice, combining hands-on compliance with exposure to advisory work for HNW clients.
 
Job Description
As a Private Client Tax Senior, you’ll manage a defined portfolio of personal tax clients, acting as their principal point of contact. You will prepare returns and computations, support planning and advisory projects, and ensure delivery is efficient, accurate, and risk-managed. You’ll also play a key role in mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to best-practice across the team.
 
Main Responsibilities

  • Prepare and finalise personal tax returns and computations to agreed deadlines and quality standards.
  • Manage a client portfolio, maintaining regular contact and providing proactive updates on obligations and legislative changes.
  • Support advisory work (e.g., CGT, IHT, residence and domicile, trusts), drafting clear, client-ready outputs.
  • Identify risks, escalate issues appropriately, and adhere to all internal risk management procedures.
  • Review selected work from junior team members and provide constructive coaching and feedback.
  • Monitor budgets, progress, and WIP; communicate variances and scope changes promptly.
  • Build strong client relationships and spot opportunities for added value across the wider firm.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive culture and uphold firm values in day-to-day delivery.

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong background in Private Client / Personal Tax within practice.
  • CTA qualified (or finalist/near-qualified) preferred, with the credibility to support trainees and collaborate with managers.
  • Confident handling a portfolio and balancing compliance with advisory exposure.
  • Clear, client-friendly communicator able to translate complex tax into practical advice.
  • Diligent, organised, and comfortable working to multiple deadlines with a keen eye for detail.
  • Committed to high standards of risk management, documentation, and quality.
