Achieve Professionals are partnering with one of our key clients in their search for an experienced VAT Manager for their Newcastle firm.
Job description
As a VAT Manager, you will manage client portfolios, provide strategic advice on complex VAT issues, and oversee a team.
This role will involve liaising alongside the national VAT team as well as the Yorkshire offices to deliver high quality advice and innovative solutions to clients, ensuring that their needs are fully met.
You will be involved in the training and development of junior members of the team, while also build relationships with clients to help manage their VAT obligations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Responds effectively to client queries, with strong understanding of client needs, risks, and markets.
- Manages workload and team support around client priorities and deadlines.
- Reviews work in progress regularly, ensuring billing is accurate and provisions are updated.
- Supports business growth through involvement in proposals, fee quotes, and client tenders.
- Develops and shares specialist knowledge with colleagues.
- Leads training and contributes to team development.
- Keeps up to date with technical and industry knowledge to identify issues and opportunities.
- Delegates challenging work, empowers team members, and supports independent thinking.
- Makes informed decisions, accepts feedback, and takes ownership of performance.
Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in a VAT management role within a chartered accountants
- Hold an accountancy and/or tax qualification, or QBE (e.g. ATT, CTA, ACA, ACCA, CA)
- Able to oversee the preparation of both standard and complex applications with minimal supervision and no adjustments
- Be the main point of contact for clients and/or colleagues leading the project
- Ability to build good client relationships
- Generate leads with existing and prospective clients, as well as able to recognise and communicate fee winning opportunities
- Right to work in the UK
