Job Description
We are supporting our client, who is a well established charted accountancy practice, to find a bookkeeper. In this role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, performing bank reconciliations, and supporting VAT filing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage, and will demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills. While this is a full-time position, we are open to considering part-time arrangements for the right candidate. 
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Process and record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Raise client invoices and log expenses using accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
  • Perform regular bank reconciliations.
  • Assist with VAT returns and ensure compliance with VAT regulations.
  • Support Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance (training will be provided if needed).
  • Maintain and update financial records and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and team members.
  • Provide general administrative support when needed.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
  • Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
  • Understanding of basic VAT principles and filing requirements.
  • Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes.
  • Understanding of MTD is beneficial (training provided if needed).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Good organisational and time management abilities.
