Job Description
We are supporting our client, who is a well established charted accountancy practice, to find a bookkeeper. In this role, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, performing bank reconciliations, and supporting VAT filing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage, and will demonstrate strong organisational and communication skills. While this is a full-time position, we are open to considering part-time arrangements for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and record financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Raise client invoices and log expenses using accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Perform regular bank reconciliations.
- Assist with VAT returns and ensure compliance with VAT regulations.
- Support Making Tax Digital (MTD) compliance (training will be provided if needed).
- Maintain and update financial records and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and team members.
- Provide general administrative support when needed.
Requirements
- Experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage.
- Understanding of basic VAT principles and filing requirements.
- Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes.
- Understanding of MTD is beneficial (training provided if needed).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Good organisational and time management abilities.
