As a Senior Accounts Supervisor, you’ll be the driving force behind smooth operations in our clients Accounts and Bookkeeping team. You’ll oversee workflows, keep everything on track, and make sure nothing slips through the cracks.
 
Job Description 
Our client is looking for a skilled Senior Accounts Supervisor with a strong background in bookkeeping, VAT, and accounts preparation. This role will involve reviewing financial data, supporting junior team members through training, and ensuring compliance with VAT filing and reporting deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent, along with a clear understanding of VAT rules and some knowledge of income tax. Strong communication, organisation, and attention to detail are key to succeeding in this role.
 
Role Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate and prioritise team workflows, tracking task and project progress
  • Provide regular workflow updates to management
  • Liaise with clients and internal/external stakeholders to resolve issues
  • Ensure Accounts and VAT returns are filed on time
  • Maintain quality control across all workflows and processes
  • Meet client reporting deadlines
  • Review Accounts and VAT returns
  • Respond to non-complex VAT queries
  • Handle bookkeeping and account prep as needed
  • Train junior team members in accounts and VAT return preparation

Candidate Requirements 

  • Experience with accounting software — Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, and FreeAgent are your tools of the trade
  • Solid experience preparing and reviewing accounts and VAT returns
  • You know your way around bookkeeping and similar accounting roles
  • You’ve successfully supervised workflow or led similar team efforts
  • You’re confident with VAT rules
