Overview & Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced lawyer to come in as Partner for an incredibly well-established law firm in Manchester.
Job Description:
You will become part of a large employment department in one of the UK’s leading law firms. The firm is rapidly expanding and so is their employment teams.
You will manage and oversee a team of very well experienced legal professionals, ranging from NQ to 6 years PQE.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and grow key client relationships, providing strategic employment law advice to senior stakeholders and HR leaders.
- Oversee high-value or sensitive matters such as tribunal claims, redundancies, executive terminations, TUPE, discrimination cases, and whistleblowing.
- Drive new business through networking, pitching, thought leadership, and expanding the firm’s employment law offering.
- Manage and mentor junior solicitors and associates, ensuring high-quality work and supporting professional development.
- Ensure all advice is compliant with employment legislation, case law, and SRA obligations, managing risk appropriately.
Candidate Requirements:
- 8+ years PQE and a strong track record in employment law (both contentious and non-contentious).
- Demonstrated ability to attract, retain, and grow client relationships; often with a portable client following.
- Deep understanding of UK employment legislation, case law, and regulatory frameworks, including TUPE, discrimination law, tribunal practice, and whistleblowing.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior lawyers, with strong delegation, feedback, and team-building skills.
- Ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice to HR directors, general counsel, and C-suite clients
