We are seeking an associate with 3-5 years of public finance experience to join the Finance Practice Group in our client’s Chicago, Detroit, Houston, or Milwaukee office.

This firm has a thriving public finance practice and are seeking a well-rounded, resourceful, and highly motivated associate with strong academic credentials. The candidate should expect direct interaction with partners and clients and must have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and an exceptional work ethic.
 
This firm also has a robust public finance practice, particularly in the areas of Healthcare Finance, Economic Development, Housing, TIF and Special Assessment, Infrastructure and Education. 
 
Role Responsibilities:
 

• Provide legal advice to government entities, financial institutions, and underwriters on public finance transactions.
• Prepare and review documents related to municipal bonds, financing agreements, and other public finance instruments.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, including securities regulations and tax-exempt status rules.
• Assist in structuring and negotiating public finance deals, including bond offerings and financing arrangements.
• Conduct legal research and due diligence to assess the legal and financial aspects of public finance projects.

 
Candidate Requirements:

• Qualified candidates must have mid-level bond counsel, lender’s counsel, and disclosure counsel experience and will have experience working with state agencies, municipalities, and governmental entities.
• Our ideal candidate will have had significant exposure to, and basic understanding of, the principals of tax, securities, uniform commercial code, and contract law applicable to public finance.
• Law school course concentration on business law preferred
