About the Role:
Our client, a well-established firm in Derby, is looking to appoint a Senior Accountant to join their dynamic team. In this role, you will report directly to Senior Managers and play a key part in providing high-quality financial services to clients. Your main responsibilities will include preparing year-end accounts, assisting with management accounts, and collaborating on various projects as required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed working papers and draft year-end accounts.
• Address client queries and provide a list of points for senior managers or partners to discuss.
• Ensure projects are completed within agreed budgets, adhering to set timelines.
• Draft tax computations and provide company provisions for inclusion in the accounts.
• Ensure statutory disclosures are accurately included, following the firm’s checklist.
• Manage client work in line with the firm’s standard procedures and identify potential opportunities for tax planning.
• Demonstrate a strong knowledge of relevant software, such as Iris and Xero, and maintain proficiency in technical skills.
• Engage in training and development initiatives to enhance both technical knowledge and professional growth.
• Represent the firm with professionalism, building strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in an accounts senior role within an accounting practice.
• Familiarity with Iris and Xero software is advantageous, but not essential.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required.
• Experience with cloud-based accountancy software is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of attention to detail with excellent organisational and time-management abilities.
• Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and proactive problem-solving.
• A genuine interest in client service and the ability to build strong professional relationships.

Qualifications:

• AAT Qualified with 2 years practice experience
