We are looking for an experienced Compliance Auditor to join a full service law firm in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Job Description

  • Plan and conduct monthly quality audits on fee earners to ensure that practices, records and controls are in compliance with regulations and accreditation requirements.
  • Perform risk assessments and internal control evaluations. Detect and report any discrepancies.
  • Create and maintain a quality log for all audits. Identify any trends and training requirements.
  • Liaise with other stakeholders to calibrate audits, implement best practices and drive performance improvements.
  • Analyse historical data to build quality improvement initiatives and drive quality strategies across all departments.
  • Evaluate audit findings and ensure the implementation of appropriate corrective actions (with supervisor).
  • Manage firm-wide performance through insightful communications and contributions to team meetings.
  • Execute existing interpretation of regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Ensure established random and focused audits are performed and completed in a timely basis.
  • Prepare quality reports to be presented to key stakeholders (Senior Management etc), including all relevant documentation and information.
  • Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance and COLP with preparation for external audits, accreditations and compliance assessments.
  • Monitor the implementation of external audit recommendations and execute remedial actions.
  • Stay updated with the latest sector regulations and best practices in internal auditing.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment, preferably in the legal sector
  • Strong research & analytical skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good communication skills
  • Having a qualification in this area is not essential, but may be beneficial
