Payroll Assistant 
Location: Ambleside, Cumbria
Schedule: 3 days per week  
Salary: £27,846 pro rata  
We are recruiting for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join the finance team at a 4 star hotel based in Ambleside, Cumbria. This role is integral to the team to deliver payroll for several subsidiaries. 
As Payroll Assistant, you will report directly to the Management Accountant. You will be responsible for providing efficient support in payroll activities, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on time. You will work as part of a larger Finance Team responsible for the expenditure of the business.
Role Responsibilities

  • Collect accurate payroll data and raise any anomalies with team leads in readiness for payroll processing dates. 
  • Work with other departments to ensure any changes are processed correctly, taking ownership of the approvals when required.  
  • Submission of payment authorisation or payment file to meet payroll deadlines. 
  • Submission of bi-weekly, monthly payrolls. 
  • Support with monthly and end of year reporting requirements. 
  • Work with the finance team with reporting tasks and audit/compliance related activity. 
  • Be a point of contact for Management with employee queries on behalf of colleagues. 
  • Work collaboratively with the HR Team on staff changes, including but not limited to new joiners, leavers and rehires.   
  • General administration duties to support the wider Finance Team.  
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies with payroll records.  
  • Complete payroll reports for record-keeping purposes and for managerial review.

Experience Required

  • Previous experience working within payroll. 
  • A diligent and organised individual who enjoys being part of a consistent offering.   
  • Experience in payroll processes.
  • A good understanding of current pay and payroll law. 
  • Experience with SAGE 50 payroll would be advantageous. 
  • Competent using Microsoft Office Excel.
  • Confident working to tight deadlines.
