The Role
You’ll work closely with Partners and senior lawyers, supporting clients across a broad range of corporate tax matters and taking increasing responsibility for your own work and client relationships.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the tax aspects of corporate transactions, including document reviews, tax warranties and tax deeds.
  • Advising on tax-efficient structures, tax clearances and stamp duty implications.
  • Assisting with VAT and international tax matters, as well as tax disputes where appropriate.
  • Supporting clients in the venture capital space, including advice around tax-efficient investments and share incentive arrangements.
  • Assisting with the establishment of share incentive schemes for clients.
  • Preparing applications to HMRC for SEIS/EIS relief and preparing certificates for investors.
  • Communicating directly with clients and taking instructions.
  • Assisting with the day-to-day management of matters and ensuring work is progressed efficiently.
  • Carrying out legal research and providing clear, commercially focused advice.
  • Supporting business development activity, including maintaining marketing materials and contributing to pitches.

The Ideal Candidate
You’ll ideally be:

  • A qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 2 – 5 years’ PQE.
  • Experienced in corporate or commercial tax, ideally within a recognised law firm.
  • Technically strong with excellent analytical and drafting skills.
  • Commercially aware with an understanding of clients’ wider business objectives.
  • Confident communicating with clients and contributing to client-facing meetings.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage a busy workload and competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.
  • Detail-focused with a strong commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to support and embrace change.
  • Commercially minded with an understanding of fee-earner needs, deadlines and client expectations.

What’s on Offer?

  • £70,000 – £85,000 salary, depending on location and experience.
  • The opportunity to join a highly regarded corporate tax team.
  • Exposure to both transactional and standalone tax advisory work.
  • Experience working with UK and international business clients.
  • Significant exposure to M&A, venture capital, share incentives and corporate reorganisations.
  • A collaborative and supportive team environment with strong opportunities for development.
  • Generous leave allowances.
  • Private medical insurance, life cover and critical illness protection.
  • Hybrid agile working, with the ability to work from home or another UK location for at least 50% of your time.
  • Additional flexible working options available by agreement.
