Achieve Professionals are looking for a passionate and highly enthusiastic Senior Bookkeeper to join our client’s team in the Colchester area. You will be responsible for providing day-to-day bookkeeping and VAT support to a variety of clients
Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping –
- Excellent attention to detail to enter correct data into financial records and recognise/correct errors.
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate record-keeping.
- Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms.
- Processing payments, invoices, income, and receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases ensuring supporting documentation is retained.
- Preparing monthly/quarterly financial statements for clients to make informed business decisions.
- Preparing reconciliations across all control accounts to assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements.
- Producing and posting of opening balance adjustments following the completion and filing of year-end financial statements.
VAT –
- Working as a part of a team to ensure all client VAT returns are completed and filed on time.
- Preparation of quarterly, monthly, and annual VAT reconciliations.
- Calculation of Flat Rate, Partial Exemption, Global Accounting Scheme and Group VAT returns.

Skills:
- Computer literacy, especially familiarity with Microsoft Office and accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Free Agent.
- Multi-tasking and organisational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with clients and other employees across various departments.
- General ad hoc duties as required.
