Full time Office Based 
 
Achieve Professionals are looking for a passionate and highly enthusiastic Senior Bookkeeper to join our client’s team in the Colchester area. You will be responsible for providing day-to-day bookkeeping and VAT support to a variety of clients
 
Responsibilities:
Bookkeeping –

  • Excellent attention to detail to enter correct data into financial records and recognise/correct errors.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurate record-keeping.
  • Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters in accessible terms.
  • Processing payments, invoices, income, and receipts and entering data into accounting software or databases ensuring supporting documentation is retained.
  • Preparing monthly/quarterly financial statements for clients to make informed business decisions.
  • Preparing reconciliations across all control accounts to assist in the preparation of year-end financial statements.
  • Producing and posting of opening balance adjustments following the completion and filing of year-end financial statements.

VAT –

  • Working as a part of a team to ensure all client VAT returns are completed and filed on time.
  • Preparation of quarterly, monthly, and annual VAT reconciliations.
  • Calculation of Flat Rate, Partial Exemption, Global Accounting Scheme and Group VAT returns.

Skills:

  • Computer literacy, especially familiarity with Microsoft Office and accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Free Agent.
  • Multi-tasking and organisational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with clients and other employees across various departments.
  • General ad hoc duties as required.
